RevenueCat cheaper
Superwall cheaper
Same feesOn Indie, Superwall never costs more than RevenueCat in listed fees. Startup and Scale add a monthly base fee, so RevenueCat can be cheaper, at any revenue when paywalls run on all of it. Startup and Scale figures assume 1% from the first dollar. RevenueCat's fee includes its paywall tools, and Superwall's paid plans add features, so fees are only part of the choice.

Infrastructure is $0. Paywalls are a separate paid product. |
When using remote paywalls, future subscription renewals from converted users are attributed to MAR. Exactly $10,000 MAR on Indie is free. On Startup and Scale the calculator assumes 1% from the first dollar; Superwall's page and FAQ differ on this.
Says Superwall: imported and pre-integration users are never billed. The calculator doesn't model this. Pricing source |

| Cloud Server Hosting | 0% SaaS Cut (Self-Hosted) | $0 commission; hosting $15, $45 or $120/mo by revenue (author's estimate, hosting only, excludes engineering time) | 100% Custom code | 0% third-party SaaS cut. The model adds $15/mo of hosting below $5,000/mo MTR, $45/mo from $5,000, and $120/mo from $30,000, to receive App Store Server Notifications and Google Play webhooks. These are the author's estimate, hosting only, excludes engineering time, and no provider publishes them. |
RevenueCat also offers Growth Tools on your own infrastructure, where you "only pay on the conversions from the tools you use". Its page gives no threshold and says to talk to them, so the calculator doesn't model it.
For providers that charge on all revenue, crossing the free limit makes the whole amount billable. Going from $2,499 to $2,500 on RevenueCat, or $10,000 to $10,001 of attributed revenue on Superwall Indie, adds a fee on everything.
Superwall separates backend infrastructure (entitlement and purchase APIs, webhooks, SQL Query API) from its paywall builder. If you use your own native paywalls, backend infrastructure is $0, free at any scale on Superwall's published pricing (4 Nov 2026). For remote paywalls, Indie is free up to $10,000 MAR a month, then 1% of all attributed revenue. Startup is $49 + 1% and Scale is $199 + 1%. Enterprise: custom.
RevenueCat, Adapty, Qonversion and Apphud all calculate their fee on gross revenue, before Apple's or Google's commission. For instance, on $10,000 gross revenue under a 15% store commission, your net store payout is $8,500, so a 1% fee of $100 is about 1.18% of net revenue (1.43% at a 30% commission).
Adapty: free under $5,000/mo, then 1% of all revenue. Qonversion: free up to $7,000/mo, then 0.8% of all revenue. Both platforms include built-in visual paywall builders and calculate fees on gross tracked revenue.
Apple StoreKit 2 and Google Play Billing charge 0% SaaS commission. However, self-hosting is rarely $0 in practice: you need a backend server and database (e.g. AWS, Render, Supabase, or Railway) to reliably receive App Store Server Notifications V2 and Google Real-Time Developer Notifications. The model adds $15/mo below $5,000/mo MTR, $45/mo from $5,000 and $120/mo from $30,000. These are the author's estimate, hosting only, excludes engineering time.
